Grand Final Baby!

A Grade

The Tigers took to the courts against Melton in the preliminary final to have the right to face Romsey in the GF.

Melton are a very experienced final side and this was going to be a tough assignment, we were confident of the challenge ahead. The first quarter began and both sides went goal for goal, a couple of errant passes impacted the scoreboard as Melton took a two goal lead 13-11 at the first break. A couple of moves were made that had an immediate impact on the game, Paula into the middle, Mads to WD and Anica GD. We talk about the third quarter being the premiership quarter, it came early in this quarter.

Paula ran hard forward into good positions linking with Taylah and our goalers superbly. Mads shut out the dangerous WD and Anica repelled beautifully in GD. What a quarter, a display of superb clean netball was on display as we had an 18-8 quarter to load 29-21 at half time. The third quarter commenced and time was ticking away for Mads who had to race off to work half way through the quarter as Ash came on to replace as we lead 41-32 going into the final quarter. The girls were encouraged to hold firm and finish the game out, Ash had an impact with her height in WD, Courtney had a strong finish linking superbly with Tee. Liv was outstanding all day and lead by example,we went goal for goal and slightly increased our lead to win 55-46 to earn the right to play off in the GF against Romsey. This hasn’t happened overnight, its been a work in progress for Lancefield and its first GF since 2004. The club is very fortunate to have Lancefield FNC fully supporting its netballers which starts at the top.

Well done ladies, win draw or lose you have done us all proud for the entire year and its been a pleasure.
